EXT. DESERT - ROADBLOCK - DAY

Cepeda's truck pulls over. The man moves towards the cops blocking the road with their cars.

DISPATCHER
(over radio) Unit two eleven, motorists needs assistance. Overheated car, Highway ten, exit one. twenty-two.

CEPEDA
(to cops) You guys are looking hard enough. You seen anything

COP
(to Cepeda) No, sir.

DISPATCHER
(over radio) ...at Johnson Valley, on two-four-seven...

Unaware, Santee drives towards the roadblock.

DISPATCHER
( over radio) ...having an investigated abandoned vehicle...

OFFICER
(to himself) Jesus Mary!

The Ferrari's brakes screeches as he stops the car. The officers prepare to fire.

OFFICER
(to Officers) Okay, men, ready.

CEPEDA
(to Officers) Hold your fire. Easy...

Santee drives into the opposite direction. The cop cars begin to chase him.

CEPEDA
(to Officers) Hold it! I said stay here! Stay here! Hold your positions! He's just coming back this way!

Santee drives towards the road. All the police cars after him.

EXT. DESERT ROAD (MOVING SHOT) - DAY

Suddenly, the Lamborghini appears at the Ferrari's tail. Santee turns, Severance does the same and the nice cars have to drive through the group of cop cars in pursuit. Finally, only the Ferrari and the Lamborghini fly through the site, here Cepeda has been left alone. Cepeda hurries into his truck.

RUDISSIL
(OS) (to Severance) When we get there, you go first.

SEVERANCE
(to Rudisill) Fuck you!

RUDISSIL
(to Severance) Fuck you!

SEVERANCE
(OS) (to Rudisill) (low voice) Fuck you!

The Lamborghini chases the Ferrari on the road up the mountain. Each car bumps on the other, trying to push the other one off the road. Far behind, Cepeda and the police cars chase them as fast as they can.

CEPEDA
(over radio) Severance! Severance! This is Cepeda, we're on the mountain behind you, three or four minutes back.

SEVERANCE
(OS) (to Rudisill) Here, light this for me.

RUDISILL
(OS) (to Severance) What are you fucking crazy?

SEVERANCE
(OS) (to Rudisill) What, do you want me to be nervous?

The cars continue to bump into each other. Santee takes a little advantage over Severance. Suddenly, Santee reaches the gate that closes the park and has to turn around quickly.

SANTEE
(OS) 0h , shit, the fire gate is down!

EXT. PARK-- DAY

The Lamborghini stops. Severance and Rudisill come out with their guns in hand. The Ferrari is embanked and Santee and Rita have to abandon it.

SANTEE
(to Rita) C'mon, Rita. Come on .

Santee limps as he moves with Rita to the rocks. He reloads his gun.

SANTEE
(to Rita) Stay down and you'll live.

Severance and Rudisill go after Santee and Rita. He walks away as Rita hides behind a rock.

CEPEDA
(over radio) Are you still on the road?

OFFICER
(over radio) Did we hear from Tomay at the warehouse?

EXT. WAREHOUSE- DAY.

Tomay gets out of his truck, walks into warehouse, begins to watch
surveillance tapes.

TOMAY
(to himself) 0h my God...damn.

EXT. WAREHOUSE. DAY

Tomay leans into his truck, picks up hand radio.

TOMAY
(into radio) Sherrif Cepeda.

CEPEDA'S TRUCK - DAY

TOMAY
(over radio) Come in Sherrif Cepeda.

Cepeda picks up handset.

CEPEDA
(into radio) Cepeda here. Go ahead.

TOMAY
(over radio) Sherrif, this is Tomay, I just saw the surveillance tapes at the warehouse. Severance killed Agnos

EXT. CEPEDA'S TRUCK - DAY

TOMAY CONT.
(over radio) not Santee. Sheriff can you hear me?

CEPEDA
(into radio) Repeat that Tomay.

TOMAY (over radio)
Severance blew Agnos's head off . point blank, clear as day.

CEPEDA (into radio)
Alright. I'll handle it from here.

EXT. WARHOUSE - DAY

TOMAY
(into radio) OK. Sherrif .

Tomay gets into truck.

EXT. CEPEDA'S TRUCK - DAY

CEPEDA
(into radio) Severance come in. Cepeda here.

EXT. MOUNTAINS DESERT - DAY

Santee climbing up mountain. Severance walking around looking for Santee. Santee continues to climb, limping. Touches his injured leg.

SANTEE
(to himself) (in pain) Oh.

Santee climbs while Severance and Rudisill look for him.

EXT. CEPEDA'S TRUCK - DAY

CEPEDA
(into radio) Severance, this is Sheriff Cepeda. Come in.

Cepeda bangs on radio.

CEPEDA (Cont.)
(into radio) Severance, Cepeda here...

EXT. PARK - DAY

SEVERANCE
(yells) (to Santee) Santee! Come out, Santee! Nobody's going to harm you.

Rudisill fires at Santee. Rita runs with a gun and aims it at Severance from behind.

RITA
(to Severance) Drop it.

SANTEE
(to himself) Damnit!

Smiling Severance raises his arms.

SEVERANCE
(to Rita) What is this, darling? An arrest?

RITA
(to Severance) I said drop it.

Severance drops his gun.

SEVERANCE
(to Rudisill) Rudy. this deputy wants to place us under
arrest.

Rudisill shoots Rita in the leg. She screams and falls to the ground. Rudisill approaches.

RUDISILL
(to Severance) It's funny, she don't look like a deputy.

Rudisill punches Rita in the face.

RUDISILL
(Cont.) Looks like an accomplice. Accomplice to a cop killer .

From above the hill, Santee fires at Rudisill, who rolls down the knoll. Severance hurries toward Rita and takes her hostage.

SEVERANCE
(to Santee) (yells) Give it up, Santee!

RITA
(to Santee) (yells) Don't do it. He'll kill me an)'\... ay!

SANTEE:
(to Severance) (yells) Let her go!

SEVERANCE
(to Santee) (yells) Get down here, kid. And be quick!

Suddenly. Rita elbows Severance and punches him to the ground. Santee runs down the hill towards her.

EXT. MOUNTAIN ROAD. - DAY

Police trucks going to park, sirens.

EXT. PARK - DAY

Rita crawls towards a revolver on the ground, but Severance is quicker and steps on her hand. He picks up the gun and cocks it.

SEVERANCE
(to Rita) Hello...g'bye.

From a high rock, Santee jumps over to Severance and both men fight, but Santee is too weak and Severance kicks him to the edge of a cliff \...here Santee hangs for his life. Severance steps on Santee's right hand and he pulls it away, hanging only from his left.

SEVERANCE
(to Santee) So long.

Santee falls onto a stone ridge and stumbles to his feet. He begins to climb back up. Severance walks towards Rita.

SEVERANCE
(to Rita) Well alright deputy. How you doing? How's the ole leg, huh?

Santee climbs on top of a rock.

SEVERANCE
(to Rita) Now it's your turn deputy. Your final promotion.

Santee jumps from behind, holding a gun in his hand, points it towards Severance. Suddenly a gun is now pointing at Santee's head. It's Rudisill.

RUDISILL
(to Santee) Drop it. Drop it.

Severance picks up Santee's gun kicks him in his crotch. Rudisill hits Santee on his back.

SEVERANCE
(to Santee) Say Hi to Eddie. No hard feelings Santee.

Santee goes down from a hit. Rudisill points gun at Santee.

RUDISILL
(to Severance) Frank?

SEVERANCE
(to Rudisill) Definitely.

RITA
(to Rudisill) (yells) Stop! You kill him you'll never get the money.

RUDISILL
(to Rita) What money?

RITA
(to Rudisill) The money he took from Shoeshine.

SEVERANCE
(to Santee) Where is it?

Severance kicks Santee.

SEVERANCE
(to Santee) Where is it?

SANTEE
(to Severance) It's over in the rocks.

SEVERANCE
(to Santee) Get up.

Cepeda and his men have arrived.

CEPEDA
(to Officer) You take the west ridge.

OFFICER
(to Cepeda) Yes sir.

Santee, Severance, and Rudisill are walking towards rocks.

RUDISILL
(to Santee) No bullshit Santee, there better be money up here.

Santee climbs to the top of a rock.

SANTEE
(to Severance and Rudisill) It's here. There's no chance of a three-way split, is there?

RUDISILL
(to Santee) No negotiating. Get down.

Santee, suddenly jumps from rock throwing sand in their faces. The men fight. Santee has Rudisill in a headlock.

SANTEE
(to Rudisill) You shoulda split the money.

RUOISILL
(to Santee) Fuck you...and he was just a Niger.

Santee lets Rudisill fall to the ground and walks away. Severance is walking down a path as Rita suddenly jumps from behind a bush and hits Severance with a wooden plank. They fight, Rita goes down. Santee comes from high rock.

SANTEE
(to Severance)
You're not quitting on me, are you Frank? Huh? Huh?

Santee throws Severance to the ground and beats him on the face. Severance's mouth and nose bleed. Santee picks up a huge rock and raises above Severance's head.

SANTEE
(to Severance) This is for Eddie.

Cepeda and his men surround Santee, stopping him.

OFFICERS
(to Santee) Hold it, Santee! Don't: move, Santee! Do not move.

Santee is pushed to the ground. Cepeda helps Severance up.

CEPEDA
(to Severance) You're under arrest.

SEVERANCE
(to Cepeda) What?!

Cepeda handcuffs Severance.

CEPEDA
(to Severance) ...anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. Do you understand?

SEVERANCE
(to Cepeda) Fuck you.

Cepeda forces Severance towards the cars. The cops walk after Cepeda. From the ground wounded Rita and wounded Santee look at each other, weakly- They stand up, embrace and kiss.
